Starry-eyed Peggy Sawyer becomes an understudy chorus girl for a new Broadway musical. When an accident prevents the leading lady from performing on opening night, Peggy gets her big break. Highlights include the songs "Lullaby of Broadway," "We're in the Money," and the spectacular title number, danced down a flight of stairs that lights up.
